One Million Enhanced eBooks… for Kids…

OceanHouse Media announced today that they’ve sold 1 million eBook apps. The second enhanced publisher to do so, after Disney made a similar announcement a few weeks ago.

From the deal perspective, OceanHouse was able to sign just a few big clients who each had a ton of great content. As Media Bistro reports, “Seven of the company’s eBooks have made the No. 1 spot in the Top Paid Book category of the App Store including: Dr. Seuss’s ABC; The Lorax; One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish; The Cat in the Hat; Green Eggs and Ham; The Berenstain Bears and the Golden Rule; and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

Technically, the apps are all very much the same, allowing the timeless children’s content to live within the same form. Simple, and compelling.

But with two children’s app producers at 1 million downloads, when will first first trade adult publisher hit that number? And who will it be? OpenRoad Media (who just got into kids books too)? Vook? Simon & Schuster? Hachette?
